About Me

John Campbell, MA, LPC/MHSP

(TX, TN)

Hi, I’m John Campbell, MA, LPC/MHSP. I’m a licensed professional counselor with mental health service provider designation, currently physically located in Texas, but available virtually throughout all of Texas and Tennessee. I have a passion for helping individuals, children, and families heal, grow, and thrive. Experience wise, I completed my internship working for UTMB-Correctional Managed Care within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. As I ventured into private practice, increasing my education in additional evidence-based therapies to provide was a necessity. They have provided me to the skills and experience to continue working with high risk and challenging populations, blending compassion with clinical excellence to support clients through a number of behavioral challenges. From adjustments to life transitions, anxiety, depression, personality diagnoses, trauma, psychosis, and more. If I do not have the skills to help with your presenting unique concerns, I am happy to help you find a provider who does.

I believe in meeting you where you are in your healing and guiding you forward patiently with a personalized, strength-based approach. My practice incorporates Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO-DBT). I also offer Dialectical Behavior Therapy for Children (DBT-C)—a powerful tool for helping young clients manage emotions and improve behavior in a supportive, developmentally appropriate way.

There is a vast and growing body of research that supports the effectiveness of these therapies, and I use them intentionally to help clients reach their goals, build emotional resilience, and create meaningful change. Whether you're navigating grief, seeking trauma-informed care, supporting your child’s emotional development, or simply feeling overwhelmed by life, I’m here to help you reclaim peace, purpose, and hope.

Currently I am in-network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Carelon, UMR, UnitedHealthcare, and Beacon (formerly Value Options). I am also happy to submit claims for patients with out-of-network benefits.

Ready to begin your healing journey? Let’s connect.

In addition to my private practice, I am the co-founder of Dying Inside, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting survivors of human trafficking and foster care trauma. Our work focuses on post-rescue care, offering therapy, life skills, animal-assisted healing, and workforce opportunities to individuals seeking a fresh start after profound adversity. Supporting trauma survivors in this capacity deeply informs my clinical work and fuels my commitment to creating safe, affirming spaces for all.
