John Campbell, MA, LPC/MHSP (TX, TN)
I earned my Master's in Clinical Psychology from the University of Houston Clear Lake in 2013. My graduate practicum and post-graduate licensure were both completed at Jester IV psychiatric hospital within TDCJ, providing extensive experience in a challenging clinical environment. Following graduation and prior to my post-graduate internship for licensure, I also served as an adjunct psychology professor, sharing my knowledge and passion for psychology.
After teaching, I returned to Jester IV as a Licensed Professional Counselor-Intern, working for UTMB-Correctional Managed Care within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. While there, I completed my full licensure requirements and gained deep insight into supporting those facing severe psychosis spectrum disorders, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and Cluster B personality disorders (histrionic, narcissistic, antisocial, and borderline).
In 2017, I transitioned to private practice to provide counseling that emphasized compassionate, preventive care. I’m trained in Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy for Children (DBT-C), and Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO-DBT). My specialized DBT trainings were completed through BehaviorTech, ensuring a high standard of therapeutic practice. Prior to its dissolution during the COVID-19 pandemic, I held an officer position in a local contextual association for behavioral and cognitive therapies.
As a therapist, I understand how challenging it can be withteh stress of life. Especially if you’re healing from violence or abuse, navigating grief, seeking trauma-informed support, guiding your child’s emotional growth, or simply feeling overwhelmed by life’s burdens. I’m here with empathy, skill, and expertise to gently help you rediscover peace, purpose, and hope.
